The Solar Scorpion

Eton, an emergency preparedness company and creator of green-powered electronics, announced the availability Scorpion, a solar-powered, all-terrain device for outdoor adventures.A completely self-powered device, the multi-functional Scorpion provides Light, Information and Energy in one convenient and rugged device.

According to Eton, the device can be powered by three sources: solar panel, dynamo hand-crank and AC adapter, allowing the user to have maximum flexibility, in even remote areas. The user can switch between battery modes, referring to the battery charge indicator to see when a charge is needed and utilize the USB port to charge cell phones via hand-crank. When information is critical, Scorpion provides information and weather conditions through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather band, and has an AM/FM radio digital tuner.

The Scorpion's IPX-4 splash-proof and rugged exterior makes for a durable product that can withstand the outdoor elements. Keeping with the high-design of all Eton products, the Scorpion also brings vibrant, contrasting color to its exterior, available in green or orange. Other design elements an aluminum carabiner clip for securing the device, a built-in LED flashlight, and bottle opener, the company noted in a release.
